This was the fifth year that the Stratford Festival of Motoring had been held. Each year local classic car owners have been joined by others from further afield to put on a splendid show of their treasures, around the historic streets of Stratford -upon-Avon’s town centre.
I visited on Monday 1st May. Although it was supposed to be May the weather was decidedly of the type associated with April. Yes, that’s right, the periods of bright sunshine were interrupted by bouts of rain, fortunately they were not heavy. The changeable weather is reflected in some of the photos that I took.
The feature this year was the Jaguar marque. Jaguar cars were mostly parked at the far end of Wood Street although some were also encountered elsewhere in the town centre.
Austin Healey 3000s
It was appropriate that with the nearby Warwickshire County Records office launching its ‘online’ Healey Motor Company Archive towards the end of May, that there should be a Trio of ‘Big Healeys’ on display –
Ford Lotus Cortina
Lotus Elan S2
Mini (heavily modified!)
Royale Sabre (Kit Car)
Renault 5 Turbo 2
Carbon Tear Caravan
