April 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmFree
An announcement from HMRG in connection with the Coronavirus pandemic –
Whilst there will undoubtedly be disappointment among the many exhibitors, visitors, volunteers and organisers alike, it would have been irresponsible to endanger the health and well-being of those individuals .
It has been agreed with the British Motor Museum, Gaydon that we can hold the event on 18th April 2021, WCR50 + 1 has been suggested and adopted as the name for the event.
The Historic Marathon Rally Group (HMRG) is celebrating this iconic rally on Sunday April 19th 2020, at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, 50 years to the day that the competitors left Wembley Stadium on their 16000 mile adventure through Europe and South America.
There were originally 106 entrants, 96 started and just 23 finished, the Ford Escort of Hannu Mikkola taking first prize.
The event will include cars and competitors involved in the event, films, talks and interviews, memorabilia, most from the competitors themselves and like minded enthusiasts.
HMRG would like to hear from anyone connected to the rally who would be interested in joining us and meeting up with old friends. You can contact them via their website contact page –
This is a FREE to attend event, although there will be the usual charges for anyone wishing to visit the main museum.
HMRG is confident that all visitors will have a memorable day out, so make sure that the date is in your diary.
