I first became aware of the Hemmings Motor News Concours D’Elegance a couple of years ago when I wanted to add USA based Classic Car events to the ‘Events’ section of this website.
For some reason it captured my imagination more than the many other Classic Car events held in the U.S. The ‘Super Class’ events of Pebble Beach, Ca. and Amelia Island Fl. (I visited the later in 2015) excluded, of course.
My wife and I have vacationed in the U.S. at least ten times during our married life, first to Florida when the children were young and latterly to the original British Colonies, enjoying Anglo American history.
So, I started envisaging another vacation to the U.S. based upon Lake George, where the Hemmings Concours event has been held in recent years.
Thus we found ourselves in Lake George on the week-end of 13th to !5th September. What a fantastic loaction! No wonder that Lake George is referred to as the “Queen of the American Lakes”.
Saturday, when the ‘Cruise In Spectacular’ * for non concours cars was held, was a little grey, damp and cold in the morning but improved in the afternoon. But the car loving Gods smiled on the Concurs event on Sunday and donated maximum warmth and sunshine, “just the ticket”. Here are some of the photos that I took at the event –
