My wife and I were bought a Morgan Factory Tour as a Christmas present and we availed ourselves of it just recently. Naturally I took a camera with me and was able to capture some shots of the excellent Morgan range, present and past. More importantly I was able to share the rare atmospherics of this uniqe English car manufacturer. That is something that words cannot properly describe, it has to be experienced. If you are either a car enthusiast or someone who is interested in studying happy and fulfilling working environments, then you will leave the Morgan Motor Company at Malvern, Worcestershire, England, with a smile on your face.
The model being produced while we were there was the recently launched Morgan Plus 6. This is not just another traditional Morgan with a steel ladder frame chassis and copious amounts of Ash wood for the body frame. It has a bonded aluminium panel chassis that has more in common with a modern fighter aircraft than you would imagine. It is fitted with the BMW B58 straight six engine which develops 335 BHP and 369 Lb. Ft. of torque. This drives the rear wheels via a ZF eight speed automatic gearbox and is capable of achieving 165 m.p.h and 0-62 in 4.2 secs. This chassis even has its own designation, it is – the CX Generation. That seems to suggest it will form the basis of future Morgans. ![]() So would I recommend a Morgan Factory Visit? Most definately yes but if it is a warm day then make sure that you take some water with you! Here are some of the photos that I took. Morgan encourages you to take photos, I suppose it is part of the advertising mix – very clever – ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Museum
